What to do in an Emergency?
Upon arrival to your destination, travelers should learn about the local emergency procedures from the on-site contact, or host institution. Below are general protocols for addressing an on-site emergency.
If you encounter a medical or security emergency while traveling abroad on a MUSC-related trip, take the following steps:
- Take whatever actions are necessary to assure your immediate safety and/or medical needs.
- Call the equivalent of ‘911’, if appropriate. Review the U.S. State Department’s global "911" list.
- Call International SOS at + 215-942-8226 (worldwide, 24/7/365) for help. International SOS accept collect calls and are available 24/7 to assist with overseas medical, security or legal emergencies.
