College of Nursing HHI Scholars Program

The HHI Scholars Program addresses communication, cultural effectiveness, and health equity through participation in community based activities and faculty research. Through immersion experiences with members of the Hispanic community, students are able to better understand the link between culture and healthcare delivery as well as outcomes.  Participation includes shadowing clinicians that have a high percentage of Hispanic patients, touring and working alongside community members of a migrant camp, and working at Rural Mission, a head start organization for children of migrant workers, as part of their community clinical.

How To Apply:

The MUSC College of Nursing selects students based on academic performance, interest in diverse cultures and community participatory action.  These scholars are selected in their first semester of the accelerated BSN program and must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be selected among the pool of applicants. Please contact Anna Tecklenburg for more information.
